Miami Vice: The Game
Yes, there is even a game specifically called Miami Vice and was made in the mid-eighties for a C64/128 computer. In the game, you get to be Crockett or Tubbs, the famed detective duo of the television show Miami Vice. The premise to the game is that Crockett and Tubbs have heard that a 1-million dollar contraband shipment is due in Miami on Thursday morning, for collection by a ‘Mr. J’-an old fashioned gangster with influential friends. Crockett and Tubbs both know that these deals usually go down under the cover of an ocean-front warehouse and, as of midnight on Sunday, that’s as much as you, as Crockett and Tubbs, knows. The idea is to get out into the city of Miami and squeeze the network of dealers, starting with the real low-lifes, the cheap wrap-men who frequent the Miami local bars. By handling them right, you get to their suppliers, the next link in the chain and eventually, you get to the slick businessmen who operate in the casinos. These are the guys that have the information you need. The graphics to the game are cheesy in comparison to today’s standards of video gaming. However, for the eighties, this was prime-ticket stuff. Not to mention the ability to walk in the loafers of Sonny Crockett, thusly Don Johnson. Just make sure you look good in pastels and are comfortable not wearing any socks, and you will be just fine. This game is still available for download; however you need to first download a C64 emulator so you can run the game on your computer of today’s standards. Go forth, and be Crockett…
